Removals Dorset is a regional international-removals firm specialising in coastal moves to France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. We are based in Dorset, work Dorset and the south-coast edges, and we run our European corridor to coastal destinations specifically — not inland Europe.
Why Dorset
A coastal county firm. Not a national chain with a Dorset depot.
Dorset is a coast first and a county second. The Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site runs across the south of the county — 95 miles of cliffs, coves, and working harbours, from Old Harry Rocks in the east to Lyme Regis in the west. The BCP urban area (Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole) is the largest coastal-urban catchment on the south coast and the seventh-largest urban area in England. The Jurassic Coast settlements, the working harbours, the seaside towns and the inland villages between them — they share a coastal character that defines the county's relationship with how its residents live.
The audience we serve reflects that. BCP urban professionals moving to coastal European cities. Coastal-retiree-continuity households moving from a long-held Dorset coastal property to a long-considered European coastal destination. West-Dorset creatives (Bridport, Lyme Regis, West Bay artists, writers, makers) moving to small coastal European villages with comparable register. How we work
Four principles, plainly stated.
Coastal access expertise
Dorset coastal-village access and European coastal-village access are both routine for us. Narrow harbour lanes, single-vehicle approaches, pedestrian-only old quarters — we survey both ends and plan secondary shuttle vehicles where the main lorry cannot reach.
Pace set by the household
Long planning horizons are common. Indicative survey now, refined written quote when the destination property completion is closer, final move date as the dates firm. We do not push to compress a long-considered decision.
Honest about scope
Four coastal corridors. If your move is to inland Europe, Removals Somerset is the better fit. If your move is to Costa del Sol specifically, Removals Manchester runs the dedicated retirement-Costa pipeline. We will refer honestly at survey.
What we are not
The honest no-list.
We are not a national chain. Dorset and the south-coast edges are the catchment. If your move is from outside this area, sister sites are usually better-shaped — Manchester for North-West and Costa-belt, Sevenoaks for affluent commuter-belt, Kent Removals Ltd for the Kent county umbrella, Peckham for SE London, London Moving for North London.
We do not run inland Europe. Our European destinations are coastal — Côte d'Azur villages, Ligurian working harbours, Costa Brava quiet towns, Algarve coast. For inland European moves our sister site Removals Somerset is the specialist.
We do not run the Costa del Sol retirement pipeline. That is Manchester's lane — they hold the high-volume retirement-Costa specialism. Our Spanish work is the alternative: Costa Brava working towns, Costa Blanca quiet villages, Atlantic Galicia and Asturias, inland Costa de la Luz.
We do not transport pets. Different regulatory regime, different vehicle requirements. Specialist pet-transport firms do that work; we refer.
We do not give tax or visa advice. We will tell you what residency-evidence pack the customs side needs. For NHR (Portugal), the Spanish non-lucrative visa, the Italian elective-residence pathway, French long-stay rules — talk to a tax adviser and an immigration lawyer.
